They say the older CIS's are easier to install.

I would say to install the runners into the airbox with the rubber gaskets on loosely before dropping it down onto the heads. Spin the clamps on the rubber boots so they can be accessed with a phillips screwdriver when the setup goes onto the engine.

You will still have the hassles of the intake to head nuts that require some nifty 1/4 inch swivels on your sockets for the ones in the far back.

Lower the engine slightly. Dont loosen thinking you can tighten the runners for 5 and 6 in the car.

I did a 74 without lowering the engine. No very difficult. Just slide the rubber boots up onto the air box then slide them over to the intakes when un position, tighten from the front of the car to the posterior. Just go easy no big deal

Not sure what you are saying here. If you are referring to the necks on the airbox, can he "fit" the runners by dropping onto the engine and get happy with alignment then pull off and tighten? Or are you referring to the head to intake runner interface.

Mixer - there are no worries about dropping the engine a few inches. It is a piece of cake.

Ive had to pull the unit out again,to replace the two hoses under the airbox, the large one just crumbled. It looked fine when I cleaned the engine, but when I moved it ,it was stiff and it cracked.
(note to self "always replace any hose no mater how good it looks")
