Heater, blower relay? Where to get one?

I think I need a "new' blower relay for my heater. You know, the one that is in the engine compartment for my 85 Targa. Where can one find a good used one with a budget? I saw one for 500 bucks on ebay. Not gonna happen. Any help would be awesome!

Jamie

Not sure which one you need. A part number would help.
Maybe it is among these ones?

Email me with what you are looking for. I have a 3.2 that I am installing in an early car and am looking to sell the engine mounted heater blower from the 3.2. If the relay is part of that I can help you out.

Thank goodness it is not the relay, saved a bullet there.

If you are talking about the lever switches those are more reasonable

If you remove it, post it, it may not be broken, just bent. If you hear a click, there should be good if not then it is internal damages.

Oh I see.

Well, if you can by pass the rotary switch that will verify it.

Lever switches control the engine fan, the rotary controls the foot blowers via the lever switch and engine fan.

Oh no, I meant no harm. If you can remove the seat/s and move away the console. you will see the lever switches, they are two mini snap-action switches in one like this:

very fragile and get alot of dirt and debris and conncected to the wire loom next to the access panel of the coupler.

Yeah, that's them. I've got the housing off and I cleaned up the contacts on those guys. They do make contact when they are supposed to. It's just that nothing happens, thus why I was thinking it may be the rotary switch. If replacing that gets me no where, maybe I should replace the lever switches?

Previous Auto heater problem

Jamie,

I just resolved a slew of headaches on my auto heater in my '84 Targa RoW. In the end it was a combination of the engine blower fan not functioning as well as the relay. We had a fair bit of discussion on the issue on another thread if you don't mind reading through a lot of stuff - could be useful.

Thanks guys, but I have what Jim has and that's the manual heat switch. Have one coming and hoping, praying that this is the issue. If not, you'll hear me *****.

Fair enough Draco, my thought was "if it wasn't the control unit", then the engine area appears to be the most likely culprit - hope it's a simple fix.
