Oil line loose 3.2

My oil line hose from oil tank turns on the crimped pipe end pretty easily , is this normal? I would think that if crimped tight , it should not turn. I'm not sure if it has been leaking, since I had leaks else where that I have now fixed. If this is not normal hopefully a local shop can crimp a new hose on for me .Thanks for your input.

Not normal. You need a new hose.

Perhaps you can find a local shop to Re-Hose your Feed to the Thermostat as this....



Just be careful they use the correct crimp jaws and crimps. Most have Crimps & Jaws that are too long.

NO, absolutely NOT.

Not normal. and getting that other end off from the thermostat is often a real hard chore.

Either get a new hose, or see if there is a local shop that can get a good crimp on your fittings. It is metric hose, and be 100% certain it is done right. It is under pressure, and could empty the oil system in seconds if it fails.

A new hose is not that expensive. Beats getting it repaired.

Yes, this could be problematic. Even with the whole system removed from the car I could not get it off without taking a change of stripping the thread off the cooler (very expensive).

So I carefully slice the nut with a Dremel and use aftermarket replacement nut. https://www.pelicanparts.com/More_Info/ERMP0170000.htm?pn=ERMP-0170000&bt=Y&fs=0&SVSVSI=803

Never leak after it was replaced. I'll post pictures tonight.

On my 1985 I replaced that exact same oil line for the same reason, it was seeping oil. I started soaking it with penetration oils for a couple of weeks before I tackled it. With lots of cussing and fighting I got it off and did not hurt any threads on the thermostat. Many people have removed the thermostat from the car, and put it in a vise to have better access to it.

Read the many threads on the board about how others have done it.

When I replaced mine, I found myself using a dremel to cut off the thermostat side nut, which worked great.
