Quite the professional presentation. Car sounds awesome! Hope that mine runs that good when done.
I noticed how clean your firewall is. Have been researching this forum for ways to remove the glue. So far no easy answer without removing the paint. What did you do. By the way, hope you faired the Tsunami without harm. |

I removed the glue with 3m adheasive remover. I then sanded it in rough spots down to the paint surface, I shot a base coat of GP white over the old paint.
No harm here from the Tsunami, thanks. Shane

Sounds like you have a little air getting in the exhaust system. I try to mate the flanges and then use Wurth exhaust seal.

Thanks for listening. Do you think the air is getting in at the heads or at the muffler flange? I have a loose stud at the #3 head so that is probably where it is comming in at, I guess I'll have to drill and insert. Do you think this is why I am getting the popping sound on decel? Thanks, Shane

Bringing back a lot of memories of my old '74 Targa, looked exactly like yours, polished wheels, silver bar. Miss that car, it was a blast.
Exhaust sounds great, nice vid.

Popping is no doubt from the carbs as they go rich on deceleration, normal and sounds good!

James, Thanks for the confirmation. ![]() Mat, I like the classic style opening front vents and the backdated chrome look. I have a bit of ECE (Early Car Envy). I think I am done messing with this thing, it is about right where I want it. Perhaps some bigger brakes in the future. Shane

Does Brian incorporate any slip joints to allow for expansion and contraction? That might be the source of the air before its fully up to temp. Bill K

Nice!
Yes there are slip joints at the merge collectors to allow the system to expand and avoid cracking. Everything should settle out after a few heat cycles and will seal up when warm.

That sounds awesome! Notice any droning at all?
So, if this is the preview, when should we expect the main event? ![]()

The main event will probably be just more of the same. This was my first attempt at a video ever. My cameraman (son) did quite a good job but is still a little shaky. We took about 40 minutes of video for this 2 minute production. None of the in car camera was good. So I plan on making another video with a little more in car camera.
I had produced the video with a backing track of "Gallows Pole" by Led Zep, but YouTube rejected it and removed all the sound, so I had to post this one. I guess I should have used "Jessica" as a backing track. No drone...Its wierd, if you notice in the second clip I am cruising at about 2500rpms and that was where I had droning before with the SSI's. Now, with the larger pipes I do not notice any droning. I think in the beginning of the video when I am backing out you can hear a little air from the merge, but like Brian says once this thing is warm it is tight. The design and the welds of these headers and muffler are first rate. And no ticking when its cooling down like with SSI's.

Did you get the heater boxes for the headers?
