Compression numbers- should I be concerned?
Just getting ready to start my 76 2.7 after sitting for 10-15 years, did a compression test and got the following numbers. Will the numbers improve once the engine is started and runs for awhile. looked inside cylinders with a scope and everything looked good, no rust, pitting etc. Engine has 65,000 miles on it.
1- 110 2- 140 3- 80 4- 110 5- 130 6- 140

the 80 is low, but you may want to run it up to temp and then retest to make sure the rings are seated well and everything is expanded. a little heavy oil in each cylinder if still low will tell you if it is the rings.

I'd drive it a little bit and monitor that low cylinder. Could be dirt or corrosion on the seat or valve/stem. May clean itself up, I would be hesitant to do an adjustment until it is clean as it is unlikely to have gone out of adjustment during storage. Good question Brad as the dirt or corrosion could have given an erroneous gap.
