3.6l Conversion no start

I'm brand new here, and I've searched to no avail for the answer to my problem. I just finished installing a '95 3.6l in my '78 911sc. I used a kit from Patrick Motorsports. Got fuel. Got spark. She fires right away then dies as soon as you let go of the key. Just flashes then dies. Any suggestions?
The engine came out of an automatic equipped car, not sure if that has anything to do with it. Ran the engine in the donor car prior to it's extraction. As well, my fuel, oil, and charge lamps are on as soon as the battery is hooked up (key off). I don't believe the problems are related, just thought I'd throw that out there.
Thanks, Clayton

It fires up and then dies?

Some 1995 DMEs have (a pre-OBD-II version of) drive block programming. Some don't. What happens is the DME looks for an okay from the alarm unit, and shuts the party down if it doesn't get it.

It made me crazy, too. I'm still grateful to the guys on this board who worked it out for me. If you post the part number for the DME box, it's a pretty easy diagnosis (assuming I can find the email with the part number cut-off). A Steve Wong chip will fix the problem -- and let's admit it, sooner or later you're going to decide you need the Steve Wong chip for your lightweight flywheel anyway.

Thanks so much Jaskas! Borrowed a DME from buddy, and she flashed right up! Runs great! I'll look into the chip Jack. I've been reluctant to ask any questions thus far, and I'm glad I did. Thanks again guys.
