Just make sure you use the wire holders and do not cross-wire them out of firing sequence.

Thankfully, the two little stickers in the engine bay that show firing order are quite helpful here, plus the Bosch cap is labeled as well.

A set of Clewett from our host are fine.

+1... and it add some color but had to slightly enlarge the wire holders with a drill.

kinein 04-25-2012 06:53 AM

kinein 04-25-2012 07:06 AM

I'd say you want the Berus then. Plus, the Berus (at least the old ones I pulled out of my car) are labeled with which cylinder they go to, which is handy.

Fit great on both motors. I went with black so they look fairly OEM.

I have owned a bunch of different one. The red Magnecors are, by far, the best. Getting the other brands on and and off the plug can be a PITA as they are slippery. The Magnacores have tab on the end that completly eliminates any issue.

Bottom line, they fit better than the others I have tried.

The ONLY plug and play set of wires is the Beru's. No drilling - no new ends - no poblems. They were good enough for Porsche - therefore they are good enough for me.

But are they attention blindingly bright red?

This may be heresy, but having owned British trash, I think a p-car engine is mostly boring to look at, especially a stock one from the 80's you really can't see much. An older one, or when with all the crap on top of the engine is missing and a nice set of Webers, that is a different story. Why do some people polish/anodize their fans? Its about the only thing you can really see.

Beru wires ...

The originals lasted 25+years. That for me is a testament of their durability and quality.

None of the aftermarket ones i doubt will ever last as long as Berus.

Besides, most aftermarket are modified to use Beru ends. Beru connectors fit best.

Buy OEM.

Note: make sure you get the ones NOT "Made in China". The ones made in France or Germany are best.

gtc 04-26-2012 02:38 PM

Magnecors are made in America.

You guys really think that in 25 years, the spark plug wires have never been changed by a previous owner? Do YOU intend to leave those new Beru's on there for 25 years?

gtc 04-26-2012 02:42 PM

Also, the thread-on Beru connectors are crap. Why do you think there is a market for used ones? Hint: Because they fail all the time.

81 SC Ray 04-26-2012 02:47 PM

31 years - no connector failure.....

kinein 04-27-2012 06:49 AM
