I have Clewett wires on both of my 3.0's and they have held up well. Good fit and price is reasonable and agree buy from our host.

I bought Magnecors from our host. They also work well. I had OEM Beru wires with the braided metal sheath. They were old so I do not fault them but they gave quite a light show in the engine compartment. If your current ignition wires are old, as in 26 years old, you might do the visual test in total darkness with the engine running and the engine lid open. Just see if there are any light shows playing in your engine compartment. I think any of the wires mentioned in this thread are good if they are new, Clewitt, Beru or Magnecor. Some people on this forum buy the ignition cable in bulk and fit proper ends on them. That is supposed to be cheaper. I believe I read that the old cable ends, if undamaged, can be reused with new ignition cable.

I am throwing up a question to see if any response. On other cars I had, many get bigger wire and claimed better performance.

I just put red Magnecors (as well as a cap and rotor) in my '86 this past weekend. I finished on Sunday and it was raining, so I haven't even had a chance to drive the car since.
Purely from an installation standpoint, the Magnecors are a minor PITA. First, if you want to reuse the OEM wire holders, you'll need to drill them because the Magnecors are thickets. This was easy. The part I didn't like was that the lengths on the wires weren't quite right. A couple were just right, a couple were a bit too short and a couple were a bit too long. I made them work but it made routing them more difficult that it should have been.

I just put the Beru's in last weekend. My decision was based on aesthetics as I liked the stock look of the black wires, wire covers, spacers, and brackets. And my old plastic bits were cracking into pieces.
Installation took a while as I learned that the AC compressor had to come out to route them in the factory location with stock brackets. But everything fit perfect since I was replacing with the identical wire. Last edited by DWeg1998; 04-24-2012 at 07:53 PM.. |

Just make sure you use the wire holders and do not cross-wire them out of firing sequence.
