Converting a Soft Top to a Targa (before & after photos)

I recently converted my 1980 sc softtop to a targa. Parts used were sourced through this web site. The targa top is fibreglass and goes on and off just like a normal targa top.

Looks nice, I'm guessing it is a lot drier and has less wind noise now.
You have reversed the trend of converting targas to verts.
Next step is to make a coupe as someone else did in another thread!

hi guys
the kegs are part of my other hobby... making wine!
this car started its life as a targa, and yes it is so much quieter than before... and dry!
and the fibreglass roof used was the new one from this web site, some photo's below
this roof needed the targa frame... so purchased a cheap second hand from this web site, and covered it with generic vinyl and carpet. It goes on and off, just like an original one... its just a bit too big to carry around... so need to decide if top is on or off before going anywhere
I'm really enjoying driving without the roof... it is so much quieter and less windy than it was as a soft top... but still so much cooler than having a hard roof... targa's are the best! The instructions for the targa roof say to make it permanently on... but that was just crazy... as it would destroy the whole point of having a targa!
just a word of warning for the fibreglass roofs purchased on this web site... they dont fit very well... i think they came out of their mold too early... it has taken a lot of mucking around to get it to fit without too much wind noise... the effort was worth it but it was important to think outside of the box to get it right! The best thing i did to stop the wind noise... just a bit of rope covered in vinyl (for looks) that is glued to the top, that when the top is on, it fills the gap (on the exterior) between the top and the windscreen frame.
