Building the slowest Porsche I can

Speeding has gotten us all in to trouble once or twice, it simply is what happens when you have a car that can do 100Mph with out thinking about it. I have found what I think the cure to this will be as I am not willing to sacrifice driving a Porsche, building the slowest Porsche I can. My intention is to build an early long hood 911 with the smallest motor running the most conservative tune out there. I have thought about the 912 as well and if one comes my way I will more than gladly take it. So here is what I am looking for

A 911/912 long hood chassis in any shape.
A 2L motor from an early 911 and a 901 trans to match with it.
Any leads or help would be great.
A full car would be amazing.

My current DD is an immaculate 87 944 that I would be more than willing to trade for these things.

I know this goes better in the wanted section but I want to make this the official thread for the build of the vehicle. This car is to be my daily driver as well.

Regards
Dave

Are you serious?
Make a nice governer with a bolt keeping the throttle from being fully applied. Done, no need to complicate things.

Many of us might take offense to the "slow" comment in reference to a 912. If you are looking for slow, might try having MM build you motor.

How about crazy short gears so it will accelerate quickly, but top out low?

What!?!? You have been speeding in the wrong places. No matter how slow you make your car you can still get speeding tickets. You just need to change your driving habit...not your car!

Dave take it to the track...nothing slows you down on the road like a good dose of track time and respect for the vehicle gained there. IMHO Long hood project is very tempting however.

I appreciate the light humor and responses, just to clarify I am serious about this. I will not be getting rid of my SC but I wanted to use this as an excuse to start a long hood project. I have thought about a governor and other options like that and they may be a possibility. I have been meaning to get to a track for some time however my schedule does not allow many free weekend days so it is difficult.

Regards
Dave

I'd think that even the least powerful 911 engine can get you into heaps of trouble.

Maybe an early diesel Rabbit instead?

Dave, if you're serious about a low-speed yet fun car, find and drive an old Fiat X1/9.

You can drift these sideways under 30mph, I guarantee it will be the most fun you've ever had driving thru your neighborhood.

How is this different from a guy in the 70's buying a 911T with 140hp rather than a "S"? Not everyone's idea of his or her perfect 911 includes enough power to race.

Get to the track.

Few things will as easily program your brain to adjust from WFO to pit lane speed. It will pay off on the street too as you come into town from freeway speeds. Soon you won't even need to look down at speedo to see that you are within 2 mph of where you thought you were.

What about a bone stock 912E ? In stock form they are very good first to third gear, totally flat in fourth and fifth.
A fun car to drive but tops out around 85 mph, and that's difficult to get to. However good up to about 60mph. Brakes are weak but car only has about 85 HP. You would drive it as a momentum car.

there was a reference on here one time about the guy who built a 911 with a VW engine (53hp I think) for his teenage daughter, find that thread, you may be able to buy the car I think it was for sale.

The published top speed for the 912E, per Porsche, was 110MPH as I recall. However, period road tests put it at nearly 120MPH. I agree it would take quite a while to hit that though.

I found a disassembled 912 that I just emailed a guy about. The prices on those cars seem to keep going up I have seen them listed for like 20K-40K thats more than my 911.

Regards
Dave
