my proper new to me 911 964 introduction

I sold my turbo and took this in trade it is a 90 c2 that the po owner had done a rs america treatment on. it came with tons of paperwork including a reciepts for a recent top end including new 993 P&C's James Sumerall was the previous owner I swear I have seen him post here and would like to get in contact with him so if anyone knows him please pm me. I took off the rs america tail and put back the original deck lid and tail . So anyhow thought I would share

it has blue interior including blue dash and door tops which is odd the carpets and interior are in very good shape though the bolster leather is showing its age . it had its top end done at approx 95K and I just rolled 100k on it. Very happy with the mix of modern and the classic shape though its not a long hood it is what I wanted.

It looks great! I always thought I wanted a tail, but now that I have a no-tail SC I'm liking the cleaner lines.

Yeah I had the turbo flares and the turbo tail loved it but also like the clean lines of a non tailed car.

to be clear when I say I am searching for contact info of james sumerall he was the long time owner of my car and I believe he did most the mods but also wanted to know more info on the rebuild and what issues he may have had with the car etc. any help appreciated

Very nice! I, for one, like the orange touches. I've been trying to figure out something similarly subtle to add to my white 993.

Nice car Ben! The style of the 964 never really worked for me until just recently when they have really started appealing to my eye.

Not older, smarter. They sneak up on you. The 964's are the ying to the yang of a long hood. And then you wonder why you never thought of it before. Suddenly you realize how functional a classic 911 can be.

Of course it helps if you can hold on to your '72 to balance your portfolio.

Good luck finding the PO.

Good decision on going back to the original decklid/wing. Looks much cleaner IMHO. Do you have any plans for it or just drive as is?

so far I have done the following

4 wheel alignment
fixed oil tank leaks
replace rear inner wheel barrel
replaced front hood struts
replace rs duct for stock blower with new sensor
replace coils
M&K premuffler
M&K muffler
replace flywheel sensor
refit a/c and lines
get some PDR done on the dings in the doors and quaters
replace alternator and paint fan and housing
repaint engine sheet metal
replace tail lights and center reflector
source new decklid and have it painted
source spoiler and new spoiler wall
had the spoiler module repaired by mojorizing (thanks)
resoldered clock
rebuilt spoiler transmission
steve wong chip
repaired a loose window channel (today)

I plan to reinstall the sunroof headliner (missing for some reason)
replace the dash pad at some point it is Blue so that will be hard to find
replace door top on the driver side Blue
Do valve adjustment (this coming week)
replace right rear bumper as the po cut out the tail pipe cutout larger
fix the temp sensor for the climate control (stays hot all the time)
fix the ABS light
replace all the black oxide interior screws that have surface rust(no idea why they have it but it drives me nuts)
install H4's in stead of the H5's only because my 2 h5's are different 1 looks new the other is aged and it bothers me

and then just drive it

I couldn't agree more with you on your sentiment of the 964. I really enjoy driving and looking at both the early cars and 964. Great combination IMHO.

Ben,

Your 964 looks great. You are definitely on top of the project list. Good for you.

What is the suspension setup in the car now? I am having the suspension redone right now in my C4 as the shocks are done for. If your engine mounts are original you might want to think about changing those. The original ones in my car were bad so I put in the RS mounts. The shifting improved noticeably after this.

currently new bilsteins in back stock up front . The car shifts wonderful so not sure if the mounts need to be done and to be honest what a rip off for new mounts wow. How much were your RS mounts? I have not looked into that.

I can say I have been well experienced in the older cars from 356's, 912,s 914,s and even my 77 911 (turbo) and all have their own great attributes . at this point I just love the 964 but nothing major has happened it has only stranded me once and that was bad coils. I have put on about 1K since I bought it and I still really enjoy it that is about what I put on in an average year with my other cars.
