What did I do wrong?
As a follow up on my first engine install, I believe I have everything connected in the engine compartment. I went to connect the battery and I heard something spinning (without using my key). My guess is the starter motor. I think it is spinning backwards, but I don't hear the engine spinning, which is a good thing. Do I have a short with the starter connection? Does anyone have a picture of the starter connection for a '78 3.0 SC motor?

I have an 80 SC.
My starter has 3 posts arranged vertically. Large center one has two 12AWG wires. One leads to battery and the other goes to the engine wiring harness. The top post is a (14AWG) yellow wire. Not sure where it leads to though. The bottom wire is also yellow but with a blue (or green?) stripe on it. Don't know if that helps, but figured I give it shot!

The yellow one goes to the 14-pin connector then to the ignition switch. The other wire goes to the cold start switch and valve.
So says the Pelican electrical diagrams for the '78 SC, which shows two yellows and a fat black and red to the same large terminal. |

for the starter motor to spin without engaging, the battery cable has to be connected to the OTHER large terminal post on the solenoid, the one next to the motor.
