Quick Q: How do I remove Fuchs center caps?

I'm about to start in on rear bearing job and need to loosen the axle nut with the wheels on the ground. I just want to know how to get the center caps off the Fuchs w/out damaging anything.

TIA!
Mark.

I'm sure the more experienced pelicans can give better advice, but I was able to get mine off by taking some stiff but pliable plastic coated wire and making a "C" shape with a 1 mm 90 degree bend on the end. Use it to grip the slight lip on the backside of the center cap at the 12 and 6 o'clock positions and pull gently. Got all mine off in about 1 minute.

Depends on the type of cap. Mine have set screws that can only be removed from the inside. Just pull off the wheel and either loosen the screws from the inside or pop em out from the inside.

Then you will probably have to put the wheel back on in order to lower it to the ground, to hold the drum tight when loosening the axle nut.

A wooden dowel on the inside and a whack with a mallet. If they have two small holes a coat hanger cut to length in a U shape and a 90 degree turn on the end will work.

cool! I think I can rig something up. All else fails... I guess I can pull the wheels, then remove them and put them back on and lower the car to loosen the nut - but hopefully a little tool like this will allow me to pull them while the wheels are on the car
