I don't think 40 psi all around is right. Most Porsche lit recommends 29 front and 34 rear. I have found that 32 front and 35 rear work best for my car and driving needs. These are cold tire pressures and will go up while driving, so always measure cold. Worth a try. Once a tire shop had put in 30 rear and 35 front for mine and the car was undriveable!

too high - the above are fine; I run 32/34 or 30/34 depending
- maybe they set them all high just assuming that new tires might leak a bit for a while & corrections down would be easy to make later on you like the shop, so call the mgr. and ask him but do inspect carefully - something is wrong |

I called the shop and he said that after new tires I probably need an alignment.
I know this is total BS so I have called the most reputable porsche shop in the area to schedule an alignment. If it turns to be just that I will eat the $160 and move on but if something is damaged then it must have been them because I literally just drove the car home 350 miles with zero issues or problems like the ones I am having now. I really hope nothing is wrong. On a side note, what should I ask for alignment specs on a car that is exclusively used on the street (but aggressively so)? Also, should I have them lower it and if so to what spec? |

Lowering the front is an easy deal, the rear is a bit more time involved unless you have adjustable spring plates. I would suggest measuring the height of the wheel arches from the ground up and then seeing how it is set now.
Depending on your budget, the current ride height and such you might want to consider corner balance, RH adjustment and alignment all at the same time. Depending on how they look, rear bushing as well.

I think I will wait to get that done as I want to re-do the suspension entirely this coming winter.
I think the rear is pretty good where it is but would like to lower the front. How low is ROW spec and what is a reasonable amount to set it at (city driving)? |

get the car aligned somewhere else and get that shop to write down any thing they see like places where something was hit or crushed
then go back to shop #1 with that, and tell them you want them to pay for the alignment |

Got an alignment yesterday and $165 later my issue is fixed.
So before I call them, it is completely ridiculous for new tires to throw alignment out of whack as much as it did here? Im inclined to say yes but want to make sure before I make the call |

It depends.....are you happy or are you irked?
Go in and talk to the HNIC....work on it from there.

I still say the first shop messed up BUT if the 2nd shop didn't notice any damage(did you ask them to look?) then I would say let it go. Maybe your tires were total garbage and WERE the reason for the problem.

That's what I was leaning towards.
No damage so I guess I'll just let it go. |
