Tool kit

I have a 1981 911 SC Targa and am trying to figure out what I'm missing from my tool kit. Anyone have a list? Should I have 2 lug wrenches? I keep reading about tow hooks, but there is no place for one in my car.

Here is an example of complete tool kit for an 84. I am sure you can find the same for an 81 using the search function.

Which parts manual are you talking about? This has been much more difficult to sort out than I thought it would be.

the parts manual is linked on the host website. US SCs have a rear tow eye in the kit, see your owner's manual. the bottom front of car has 2 built in tow eyes.

I pulled the black plug near the left rear bumperette where the tow eye is supposed to go, but there's nothing to screw it into. Yours?

Porsche kindly supplies complete (every nut, bolt, washer!) original parts catalogues on the Porsche.com site. I have attached the link for your ’81 (all 911SC era cars) below.

http://www.porsche.com/all/media/pdf/originalparts/usa/911_USA_78_83_KATALOG.PDF

The tool kit pictured on page 1 shows the tool that would go into the hole covered by the left rubber plug on your car. It is a towing hook and is pictured between the long screwdriver bit and the spark plug socket. On the end you don't see it has a short L leg with a button on the end that goes into a bracket with a slotted hole behind the bumper. I didn’t notice it listed for your car but I may have missed it. The file shows everything you should have in your kit.
