Where does engine compartment light connect?
I'm in the final stages of restoring my 86 Targa and I have a question about the engine compartment light. Where does it connect to? It looked like the wire was meant to route through a hole in driver's side of the engine lid but the connector I hooked to on that side doesn't deliver power. There is a similar connector to the right of the air filter so I'm wondering if that might be the right one. If anyone can point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it.
Thanks! J

See if this helps,
Trunk Light power connector ident * On Edit - this is obviously wrong, I posted the trunk light wiring - sorry. I took a look at my 87 and the deck lid wiring goes on the right (passenger side), follows the hinge, and mates to a cylindrical connector forward of the oil filter / about as fwd as the air filter.

sry for lousy pics.
wiring is tucked in lid and exits thru a grommeted hole above hinge. Is clamped to the hinge and is just played over to the connector. The connector is in it's own clamp - the wiring is otherwise unsupported in mine. pass' side eng compartment wall ![]() hinge - grommet not in pic but there ![]() lid ![]() I hope this helps.

It's connected to the l/s tail/parking light wire harness. For it to work I believe you need to have the parking lights on.

I click on forum topics that are remotely relating to my car and I must say that this forum is GREAT. "J" had a question that really could only be answered by a fellow owner, so Dan posts the pics of the exact answer... unbelievable how helpful everybody is.
Makes me want to work on my car almost as much as drive it. |
