Can someone tell me what went on here? I found this cut wire brown with white stripe. It has 12v. Thing is, the light itself has one black wire (ground) on one connector but 2 brown with white stripe wires on the other. But the snap in connector at the end of the harness has only one black and 1 brown with a white stripe?
How is this light activated? it has 12 volts at the bulb, bulb is good, but nothing ?? Owners manual does not state anything about this light. ![]()

there is a trigger switch (like the ones in your doors) that activates that light. Yours may be gone, is there a small hole located next to where your light mounts?
Many prior owners have de-activated this light. Among the reasons I've read is 1) the stock car alarm, which has been problematic over the years, shares its wiring through this light, 2) some have found that they have had weird electrical draws through this system.

Ground switch........
Quote:
Benny, The trunk light like the courtesy light/s is triggered by the ground switch. The positive (+) is always HOT and the light would come on when the spring switch is grounded. Test for the ground terminal/s. I had similar problem before with my trunk light and the culprit was the ground connection to the chassis. HTH. Tony |

Similar function as the door plunger for interior lights. Also on the same circuit, as well as the ciggy lighter IIRC.

Black wire has male/female spadetipped connectors, and the 12V source is the glovebox lamp. One of the br/wh leads goes to one side of the the push to open switch (other lead was to trigger alarm) and the other side of the switch had a solid brown lead that attached to chassis ground on the hood itself.
