With regards to buying these from Pelican they are swamped adding new parts to their catalogue right now but if you call a rep they can order them based on the prices and specs on our website. They will be drop shipped anywhere in the lower 48 in 6-8 weeks for $300. Once we get through the initial backlog of orders they will be 3-4 weeks like the 15" and 16" are.

Any thoughts on when the back log will be cleared up? That's a high quality problem you have there. Glad to hear of the immediate interest.

Here are a few iPhone snaps I took during a recent photo shoot in Detroit. Proper pictures to follow. Yes, 17" replica wheels!

Very nice. What are the widths in the pics?

Seems to be a good bolt on SC or Carrera setup though the front left fender can be tight if lowered. |
Seriously nice wheels. I know they wouldn't "look stock" to someone who knows, but it's close, and I would love to be able to run modern high-performance tires on my narrow body '72.
Any idea if a 17" fitment will work? Seems like 17x7 with the correct offsets should fit, but I looked up the specs on Michelin PSS (for example) and 205/45-15 has tread width >0.5" wider than 205/60-15, which, if that number is accurate, makes me hesitant to just jump in and give it a try. My rear fenders are rolled, but the 215/60-15s I have there now are very tight at the tread edge. There might be room to add some to the offset to move them inboard a little, but there are the fronts to think about also. Looking forward to you getting these out in the wild to see what works! |
Thanks John.
There's some nice performance tires available in 205/50-17. I don't see why the wouldn't fit with the right offset (49?) like a 7R wheel. What offset are you running now? some tire specs: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Pirelli&tireModel=P6000&partnum =16WR56000N2&vehicleSearch=false&fromCompare1=yes http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Sumitomo&tireModel=HTR+A%2FS+P0 2+%28H-+or+V-Speed+Rated%29&partnum=06HR5HTRASP02&vehicleSearch =false&fromCompare1=yes http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Bridgestone&tireModel=Potenza+S-02+A&partnum=05ZR7S02N4&vehicleSearch=false&fromCo mpare1=yes |
