How fitting that is is sponsored by Hydro

Great build. You know the 962 is no more than a safer 956? You do beautiful work.

Maybe when LeMans 24 and Nurburgring 1000 get tired of the current rules!

We can sneak it into an event, and you can ring me to be your Co-Driver!

Today we trial fitted the Hydro front. It suddenly looks like a 962 race car ;-)

This is the stuff I dream of doing. In my head, I have the skills and patience, but then there's that biatch, reality!

I'm looking for the rear long tail section. Does anyone have or know someone who has molds available? I currently have a short tail.

Slowly, but still progress.
There has been a discussion on what engine to go for.
Either aircooled 3.2 twin turbo, or start with a 996T/GT2 longblock engine and go watecooled.

Neither was selected on this first build, but for 962N-002 996T engine will be used

Porsche experimented with 928 and turbocharged them for the 962, but because of new rules, it was not raced with.
My friend wants to build the 962 Porsche planned, but never built

preston_brown 02-17-2015 03:35 PM

I've been thinking about building a 962 replica / homage as well... I think the 996 TT would be a great way to go. An evolution of the 956/962 motor in many ways.

Is that a 928 motor sitting in the last picture?

totle 02-18-2015 02:02 PM

Preston, yes last picture has the 928 engine mocked up

Maltese Falcon 02-18-2015 07:07 PM

Trond, have you ever thought of running the Cayenne v8 biturbo with the 996 gt2 trans? Our 5.0 is going into a fully built 914 club racer :)http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1424318647.jpg

Any updates?

Awesome work so far :-)

Proj_962_Norway 07-28-2015 10:58 AM

Will soon post more pictures. Doors are finished, front is almost ready. The 928 engine will have twin turbo's like Porsche did in the one 962 they built but never raced. The engine re build will be done during the next winter.
