Headlight relay kits

Caine me if you lick! I love a good spanking...
Just going to order the kit from PP (Headlight Relay Kit
911 (1974-89)) and was wondering if I need 2 of them or is the one kit for left and right headlights? I was told that I need a kit for each side. I'm in the UK so it makes a postal ishoe if I order wrong,

Thanks for any input Steve.

Just one....it contains 2 relays, one for the high beams, one for the lows.

Though it's meant for US-wired cars.

I've got an '85 Euro 930 and my headlight wiring does NOT jive with the supplied instructions, and it will absolutely not just drop in. I've been sent some photos and diagrams where a member here made it work with some re-engineering. It is on my "to-do" list, but as it is now, the kit sits languishing, while I use the headlights as-designed.

Would imagine a UK car would be wired like a RoW car, so heads-up on that.

Works as intended in my LHD '78 ROW from Germany.

Study the wiring diagram and figure it out, or have it installed for you.

As an Electrician by trade, I can say it is a simple job to install, taking less than an hour to perform.

As per my previously posted pics, all went well.

I found when I installed the relay kit the dash lights improved somewhat! The installation was quite simple - added fear factor didnot help. In the end quite simple indeed. Also installed brighter bulbs - 80/100 watts. Makes a big difference!

The Jwest kit worked just fine on my Euro car. It's a great piece of mind bit of kit. And the price isn't ridiculous, either.

Kev,

The Jwest relays are not the best.

I replaced the JWest relays with Bosch.

Well, at least it's easy to swap them out. If one wants to change them, your FLAPS will likely have something to suit. The whole installation is pretty straightforward.

When I decide to do it all up right, and to handle 100/80 watt bulbs, I'll replace the wiring with heavier gauge and use ceramic headlight plugs. These relays are no brainer easy to do and should almost a requirement.

Yeah, I've been lucky. Thanks for more encouragement. Going to buy the kit soon.

As an alternative, you can buy your own relays and make the kit. This the the way I did the wiring for a 1973 and earlier car:

You will Ned to determine the correct fuses from your wiring diagram.

When I received the relay kit I too thought my wiring didn't match their diagram, sent JWest an e-mail along with a picture on Sunday afternoon, received a reply that evening. All was well and went ahead and installed as per instruction sheet.
Can't beat service like that for a part that costs very little.

When I got my kit from Daniel Stern, it included these sockets:

They are Hella Part number 001909001.

I have an 85 Carrera Euro and the installation was just as described in the instructions.....so maybe the 930 is an anomaly. Cheers
