Question Where can I find engine serials on the web?

The official Porsche website only lists engine serial numbers for the early years of 911.
I need to verify the year of an SC engine. Some type numbers run for more than one year, and I want to be able to verify that the year is correct.
Any online resources?

Bo,

I do not know of any online resources, but this information is in Bruce Anderson's Performane Handbook book and also in the Little Red Book. I have them at home and can check a number out for you if you want - just e-mail me the numbers. If you want to do it yourself, they both came from Barnes and Noble so you might be able to pick them up there too.

Try this link from the 911S Registry board:

I got the number 63C1161 - but I strongly suspect that "C" to be a "0" - I've never seen letters within an engine serial before..

The guy couldn't find the type number -he'll try again today- but is there any way that the above number could correspond to an 82 engine?
I have Bruce Andersson's book, but can't really find anything on engine serials, only type numbers.
