Carrera side scripts opinion needed part-II

A few weeks back I asked my fellow pelicanheads their opinion about Carrera side scripts on a cab. For the most part I had positive feedback and I decided to give it a try. A friend from a local window tint shop put them on today. Overall I was very pleased with the look. If for some reason down the line I get tired of it I can easily take them off he said. Well, now it’s time for the jury to cast the verdict. Let me know what you think. All comments welcomed.

Someone earlier posted the opinion that the Carerra decal was the Porsche eqivalent of the screaming chicken on the hood of a Firebird. I disagree.

I think your car looks great. Don't apologize to anyone.

Now THIS is WAY too much! I don't think there has ever been a time in my life when this would have looked good to me. Well, there was that time in Mexico with all the Tequila and the tattoo.

I think it looks good as well. I've picked up Flat Six magazine a couple of times when I was in France-Carrera stripes on Carrera 3.2s and even Carrera 2s/4s seem to be pretty popular there.

Looks great IMHO but I like the look of the earlier cars. After seeing this may do it to my 85 as well! Now it needs a ducktail!

I think it looks pretty good, except 1) I think they put it a little too low on the car, and 2) there's a lot going on with the sticker AND the shark fin - I think it would look great with the sticker and without the shark fin.

I also agree - great color on the car, and a ducktail would really finish it off!

Mike,

You need more Porsche's around the house. I count only three, one bug and the hauler!

Mikez,
Hey it's nice to know that I am not the only one out there thats done this with a cab. I think it does look better without the stone guards, but I am afraid I will damage the paint if i attempt to take them off. i have read of many horror stories on this bbs when people have removed stoneguards.

I have the same problem with my car. Have the stone guards but they are black and do not like the way they look with the silver paint. Wonder if anyone makes them that match the paint or something that stands out so much?

I like the script, but maybe the stone-guard should go. Other than that, nice work.

Stone guards should come off with a heat gun....don't use the old lady's hair dryer....waste of time.

Peel them SLOWLY, while heating and the paint will stay on......afterwards some acetone will melt the glue. One problem with reds and silver is that the paint fades and sometimes an outline will remain.

As to silver stone guards....yup, cut silver vinyl as a replacement will be less obvious...

I like it!! I've been going back and forth on a Carrera tail, until I saw a '70-Something Carrera, with side script and a duck tail. The car has the same exact body and bumpers as my SC, and the side script and duck tail really rounded out the car.

When I get my car painted, it's likely I'll do the side script and a duck tail. I don't mind the little "backdate," as it really gives the car a classic look without going overboard.

I think it looks GREAT! I would love to do it to my SC, better known as "Super Carrera". But I would want the shadow effect of black graphics on a black car. Any idea of how this would look. I imagine the script would only be visable at certain angles on in certain lights. Any do or hear of this?

Glad you took the plunge--it looks good. Nice looking cab.
From the other replies, seems there's quite a contingent who don't like the 'shark fin' stone guards.
Poll: do you guys not like the stone guards in general, or just in combo with the Carrera side script??
