How to 'hot rod'' a 911

I really like this Southern gentleman's 'redneck 911' ' ride.- Sweet!

quote: "The engine is considerably lighter than the 930 turbo engine that it replaced. the cars weighs in at almost 2300 pounds and the engine dyno's at 705 crank horsepower.

I know it's not everyone's taste, but I wouldn't call it "rot".

You have to give him credit for the amount of work that had to be. From what I see it looks to be done pretty well and not all chopped up. I dont think I would do that but still we should give credit where it is due.

Looks to be a clean install!! Interior and exterior. The stance is correct, the rear isnt chopped like some, and the front looks stock! Nice car!

Motor has a very odd idle, lopes like it's not warmed up or it's not getting the correct warmup or tach input.

Unforgivable...

Calling it a hot rot is quite unforgivable. I have rightfully corrected it to 'hotrod' and then cut my finger off for such a huge mistake...

big bad idle

It idles like that as it has a 'BIG' cam - (lift)
It's idle is the sound of a 'killer' rmachine' - As a 'Pro Street' owner I personally could listen to it idle all day long...What a true 'sleeper'!

The original title is right......I guess I am a purist but an American V8 in a Porsche is a like mayonnaise on a hot dog....yuk!

Yeah, I love the sound of a screaming flat-6. It's definitely a cool car, but that could be a rodded pick up truck if I could only hear it. When I hear a flat-6 on the boil, my ears perk up real quick.

Still, extremely nicely done...just not my cup of German lager.

Nasty! I like it...sorry purist.

That idle lope brings back fond memories of my early teens playing with big american V8s; few '69 Chevelles but mainly my plain jane 68 Camaro 327, with huge lift roller cam, Victor Jr, Holley 780 dbl pumper, M22 crusher etc....ah those were the days.... Mmm mmm good...

I always have preferred the flat 6 at full song, but old school V8 technology has come along way with all aluminum blocks, modern efi etc. I still have a true appreciation for that technology, make me proud really!

Anyway, a ride in a 914/6 at over 160mph stole my gaze away from American V8s and parked it firmly on our beloved flat 6 engines... Always loved the 911, always will...

Thanks for posting and the walk down memory lane

No-no-no Re 'wrong' title

Hi Scott...I cut my finger off for making the spelling error...I do though know where you are coming from. I have been a Porsche owner since 1981 and have always liked them including the sound of their boxer flat six's. Beautiful.

I've also though always owned a street rod. I've a Pro Street machine powered by a full roller'd big block Chevy and it is a barrel of monkeys-Fun. It dyno's at 620 hp and 860hp with the NOS- Point being to have the similar power in a 930 that is 1/2 the weight of my machine has to be more than awesome! You would have to experience the torque in Larry's 930 -> Like an F18!

Again I'm a true 911 'believer' in every way but credit goes where deserved-> Hat's off to Larry for creating one beautifully built 'killer of a 'sleeper'- xGo gettem Larry!

PS It's sad to say, but are you aware of what is currently that fastest thing on wheels relative to the Porsche's and the likes of? It's one of those 'American V8's - A Cadillac.
