BIG job,............the tunnel needs to be modified as well as the crossmember and the shift rod needs to be shortened. Not for the faint of wallet.

stock 993 gearing is on the tall side

to fit one to an '87 911 the torsion bar tube has to be resected and the suspension converted to coil over w/ all the associated reinforcement of the chassis.

As Steve says, BIG job

If you want an air cooled 6 speed sell the 911 and get a 964 or 993

torsion tubes, coil over, chassis re-section, linkage.
if that sounds easy, than the swap is a piece of cake! and why do that to a cab? not exactly a race car

$12-15k to do it and will take about the same away from the value of the car.

The question I would have is why you want to do it. Usually more than one way to achieve the same end goal.

I have to say I don't understand these desires, but it is not my car.

How about the same job on a 915 car with a 3.6? Converting to coilover has its own benefit independent of the transmission, and my car is such that I wouldn't mind having the tunnel banged up.

The research I've done usually came upon a 5spd G-50 car, or the project stalled out (presumably for obvious reasons)...
