88 3.2 stumbling .... Your feed back please

My 88 has picked up a stumble again. Last time it ended up being on the high end of the revs and was a failed TPS unit causing the problem. Now it is stumbling right off throttle. Starts easy idles ok but struggles once you get going. I have started checking some of the usual suspects Head Sensor, AFM, vacuume leaks....

During my exploring looking for the problem I discovered the T shaped fuel line that you can see at the back of the fan is leaking. Im happy to have discovered it now in the safety of my garage although pissed because last year I paid a local shop to put new lines on it for all the warned reasons. A conversation I will need to take up with them...

Anyway my question is can this leaking fuel line also be the source of my stumble? It is a small drip at this time and of course has move to the very top of my fix list before anything else.

Regards

Mike

Disconnect the plug on the right side of the throttle body that is suspended by a sheetmetal bracket while the engine is running. Idle should raise. If it doesn't, the ECU thinks the engine is at idle.

^^^ Thank you will check that. I may have already as I think that was a test I read in the Bentley. Best I remember the idle did not change. Will double check.

Also meant to state that the car is also running lean. Plugs are white..

Idle should go to 1800 RPM IIRC when you disconnect. Next is with engine off, you barely crack open throttle back and forth listening for the idle microswitch click.

If it clicks by just barely moving throttle open but doesn't raise idle when plug disconnected, the idle switch must be dead. A simple continuity test on the pins of the switch can determine if faulty too.

Probably not but an ignition problem could. How old are your ignition cables? Are they originals?

Cheers,

Joe

OK... not sure how old the wires are and can't find anything in the PO records that show they were changed out. They do look and feel good however. I'm refering to the plug wires....were you?

regards,

Mike
