How to redo your seat's upholstery

Hello,

Well, I have done it, I have redone my car's seat upholstery.

I have a word file that details all the steps with lots of pictures if anyone is interested (it might be good to add it as a tech article. How does one submit a tech article?)

Regards, cyrille

Good on you for doing this yourself!

There's your problem, you should not have used a saw.

If you actually made those yourself, I completely recant my snarky statement. I made an assumption that you bought covers, but if you made them yourself, you are a very brave person indeed. I would tackle a complete engine rebuild first.

Post pics of the finished product.

Yep, all done by hand, started with 2 cow skins and ended up with 2 seats. cost was <$300

A very ambitious project. I just wish they fit the seats a little better for you...

It certainly must feel good when you have the interior restoration moving along so well.....will you be doing the paint work yourself? Please post pictures.

Thanks

So, what do women's boots and steering wheels have in common?

Did you run a piece of fabric between the side bolsters and the center leather on the seat? I'm just asking as that is what should allow you to tighten the sides and center. This would allow you to pull the skins tighter against the foam as your pulling the leather into the seat. If not this would easily explain why your getting a flogging and while it's a bit of work it's never to late to pull them off and add the strip. Just my 2 cents which after taxes equals......damn gubberment.
