3.2 charging problem

it started 2 months ago when my car was cranking over fine but wouldn't start. then my oil pressure sender stopped working. One day the cars battery seemed to be draining and every time the car sat for a lithe bit the starter got progressively less powerful until it wouldn't work any more, unless i push started it. The battery light comes on at 850 rpm and flashes then once i step on the gas the light goes away. Ive had the battery tested and its perfect. It reads out to 12.3 volts with the car off. I replaced the alternator myself 6 months ago and it worked beautifully for a long time. Just a side note, when you step on the gas with the lights on they get brighter, so i guess its charging. Any ideas???

Sounds like a voltage regulator issue.

Here's a hint:

Good luck,

Gerry

hook up a voltage sensor while you drive around. if the VR is bad, it will bounce around like crazy, even going up to 16 or 17. I had 2 go bad in a relatively short time period

A bad VR will cook a battery.

Replace with a regulator from our host if required.

Intermittent light brightness is a huge hint.

Poor/bad/marginal/intermittent electrical connection. Positive 12 volt line from starter solenoid to alternator, or poor alternator ground.
