I like this look also. I was originally thinking that I would to change all the window trim to silver at some point, but having seen this car I am now thinking perhaps not.

Modification #3: Radar
I try not to drive like an idiot, but do like to have the added (probably false) sense of security provided by a Valentine V1, but I do not like wires visible about the car. I mounted the V1 high on the windshield just to the passenger side of the rear view mirror. ![]() I pushed the cord under the windshield rubber along the screen and down the passenger side A pillar, then underneath the glove box. I removed the radio having bought a set of radio removal tools: ![]() It took me ages to find a switched live lead. In the end I took the plunge and bought a multimeter and found the radio power in a few minutes (I think I must have been really dense that I found this so difficult). Wired in the Valentine power adaptor, then ran the cable to the remote power adaptor into the glove box. I drilled a hole in the bottom left corner of the glove box to enable me to get the wires to the unit. I stuck the unit to the floor of glove box with double sided tape: ![]() I mounted the Remote Display (RD) unit in the ash tray. This involved removing the ash tray, and then taking out the silver insert by bending out the tabs at each end. This gave enough room to run the cable over the top of the back of the ashtray (which I was concerned might foul when opening and closing the ashtray – but it was fine). I wanted to attach the RD to the underside of the dash, but could not find a position that would not foul something, either on opening or closing. In the end I fixed the RD to the bottom of the ashtray using a few layers of double sided tape (the bottom of the ashtray is not flat so I needed to make it level using the tape). Ashtray closed: ![]() Ashtray open: ![]() I am not completely happy with the way the RD looks in the ashtray, but this is all at least easily removable, and discrete. I figured I can turn off the unit in the glove box as I reach for my Registration and Insurance card.

Modification #4: Radio delete.
The radio did not work anyway, so out it came: ![]() The hole in the dash: ![]() covered by the factory radio delete plate: ![]() This leaves the speakers in the doors - which I will deal with when I install a lightweight interior down the road. Only thing is, I have come to really like the red interior. Anyone know where to get a red lightweight carpet set?

Modification #5: Steering Wheel:
As the steering wheel was off to fit the 10k tach it seemed obvious that I should The wheel fitted to the car when I bought was a Momo with a very deep dish. It is a nice wheel, but I bought an original RSR Style wheel which the seller told me would just bolt to the Momo hub adaptor using the 6 allen head screws holding the existing wheel. The second setback: there are no holes for the six allen head screws in the new wheel. After some deliberation I decided to clamp old and new wheels back to back and use the holes in the old wheel as guides to drill holes in the new wheel, but then realized that in fact the work required would be far greater. I would have to drill out the 6 rivets that hold the steering wheel to the hub, and the 3 that hold the horn button ring to the wheel. I would have to get 3 small button head socket cap screws and their corresponding tap, tap the holes so that these 3 small screws would fix the horn ring to the wheel. Then I would be able to assemble everything (hopefully!). I ended up buying another wheel from Zuffenhaus. I will sell the wheel I originally purchased at some point, as it will fit an earlier car without an issue. While all of this was going on I became something of an expert in removing and re-installing the steering wheel! Modification #5: Rear Wiper delete:
I rarely drive the car in the rain, and who needs that extra unnecessary weight in the rear right? The wiper before removal: ![]() The cap lifted to allow access to the nut holding the wiper arm on to the spindle: ![]() Wiper arm removed: ![]() I then undid the two bolts holding the wiper motor to the engine cover hinge, and with a bit of maneuvering got the motor out: ![]() This left a hole that I had intended to plug with the OEM Porsche part in the ziplock bag in the photo above ![]() However the Porsche factory part plug (in the ziplock bag in the photo above, was way too big to fit into the hole previously occupied by the spindle). For the short term I refitted the spindle and covered it with a plastic cap that I happened to have: ![]()
