While I am waiting for some parts to assemble the engine, I have been taking care of some details in order to make the engine look good...

Did you powder coat these? Is the lettering "raw", or is that silver paint? Looks great! I'm about to send parts out for powder coat and some zinc plating.

Yes, powder coaed (half bright) and then sand the lettering - sand paper 220 on a flat surface.

Most important, don't forget o protect the whole valve cover when sanding.

It is very difficult to sand the lettering without touching the surface around them.

You are really right! That is the feeling I a experiencing now: will I be courageous enough to take it to a rally?
What was supposed to be a rally car with not so much attention to the detail is becoming a really nice finished car - those body shop guys are really professional!
Their merit - no question!
