911 Slantnose Conversions for first time buyer

I thought I had a 87' 911 deal wrapped up and it kind of fell apart so I'm back to looking. While looking I'm seeing a lot of slantnose conversions out there and I wondering what I need to be looking out for. Are these worth consdering? What does it do to the value... most of the conversions I'm seeing laterly are on SCs.

I'd be looking out for any slant nose conversions...
Figure out what it will cost to change it back, and take that off the price.

A body conversion involves some major work, and unless it is done expertly it can lead to serious problems, possibly even safety issue.
I would recommend you look for a stock body car.

The problem is a conversion typically drops the value over a stock car. If it's exceptionally well done and otherwise a solid well checked out car it shouldn't warrant any more than a stock version of the same year model car.

1 problem is that most folks with these see them as having something that should fetch far more the other is that, as mentioned, there is the possibility of shoddy work devaluing everything.

I would love a slant (conversion wouldn't bother me) but go in knowing what you have in front of you.

collectively we look down our noses at slant nose cars, but the factory efforts (starting with their special wishes cars thru the short option production run) will go the collector status before too long. These were special cars that Porsche put together.
Of course the aftermarket versions were full of problems and went along with the "miami vice" culture that brought them down

I side with TRE CUP on the Factory slant nose as a requirement for real vehicle value. Miami Vice was a while back and I have seen a lot of not so great slant nose cars (not so great year) under trees in back yards here in SoCal that have been patched up for a quick sale. Be careful with your $$$ because the slant nose does not make a stock 911 anything special in terms of price. However, make yourself happy.

If it's done right, same as the real factory slantnose, I like it. If it's has fiber class pieces which looks "odd", I would consider those as someone mentioned above, "Miami Vice". They looks ugly to me. Look at some real factory slantnose for reference. Pay attention to front and rear metal fenders, metal box side skirts. make sure headlights work, otherwise you will have hard time to find part, since you have no idea what it made up with.

However... I have to note that of all cars I have owned, even Porsches (this is my third), the only car that people keep asking to buy off of me is the slant, and it is a conversion. Even stopped on a stoplight people ask if I would sell it.

Of course, the answer is always: No.

Yep. More than once. To the point that it can be annoyed. Several times, guys stopped me from freeway to hand their phone number. First time, I pulled over because I afraid that it as something emergency. Once, the guy followed until we got to the freeway entrance. I hate people who do that. What wre they thinking? First, I told them Ebay. Later I gave them quick answer, $30k cash.
