84 Alarm system?

Ok,
My 1984 911 has an alarm system that I never use. I am thinking about doing an alarm delete, how involved is the delete process.

I think it is connected to dme, are sure you want to mess with it?

What kind of alarm is it? I've removed a lot of hack jobs from 911's over the years. Sometimes they are easy to remove, other times people hack into the wiring harness and really mess things up.

I'd first start by praying to Crom, then look at the DME harness under front of the drivers seat. Does it look messed with? I've seen a lot of aftermarket alarms where an interrupt circuit has been spliced in.

are you talking about the factory system with the key slot in the drivers door jamb?

Yup,
As with most electronic boxes, I worry since it isn't being used, it may decide to lay down and die. Most likely it will happen on the road and in a cell phone black hole of reception.

I did mine by snipping the wires one-by-one and seeing if it still was okay through the start-stop cycle with each snip.
Don't forget the mini horn attached to the rack underneath (bye bye to 3/4 lb.) I left the keyway in the door jamb rather than try to fill another hole.
The PO had also installed am 'UNGO' box and keypad in my '85, complete with it's own set of paraphernalia and live wires directly to the battery. fun stuff.

On our '86, no issues.

I have the factory manual CKT.

factory alarms are better. as said above, aftermarket ones are usually hacked in and cause way more trouble than they are worth. i did electrical work on cars for a while so i ran into this a good bit.
i dont know how it dissables the car so as far as removing it, i cant say. i fyou can post a diagram that could help, or snoop around and check for any relays that may be part of the system. you may be able to remove the relay and splice the contact wires together.

a lot of the time it dissables the start circuit to the starter. some will cut the FP. i prefer the FP because the start circuit on the 911 is already stressed due to heat and the long run to the starter.
