Worn bulb socket..?

Hey guys.
I was changing some bulbs on my 1985 911 earlier tonight and I was unable to put back in it's place a bulb (rear right). It looks like the socket in worn or something. Even the old bulb felt shaky in the socket before putting it off.

Fell kinda stupid to ask such a basic question but hey, I'm a newbie after all...

Nic

If it works and stys working, don't worry. If it fails you have several options: replace the entire assembly or buy a unversal socket, enlarge the hole slightly and press it in.

Depends on how handy you are doing these things.

No worries brother,

over time and use, the backing of the socket may break or brittle.the best thing to do is remove and reinforce the pcb boad material. you can use a socket extension to button down the sockets so they won't be so loose in the assembly.

I had the same issue.

Flame me if you like but I used 5-minute epoxy on my little cardboard piece to keep it in place. Works great, it's clear so if anyone goes in there it's clean looking, and cost $6...

I tried the clamping then the epoxy but the light just kept not working. A $2 universal socket from my FLAPS solved my problem permanently.

This is what I did and it snapped the PCB backing inside the housing
