Johan congratulations. I'm not surprised at all. Your car is so well done and you've turned the tables on what can be made out of a bad situation. Goes to show that with the right mindset you can get it done. That thing is so sweet - who would have thought that an accident would have morphed into this. Well done.

Still one of my most admired 911's here on PP. Just re-read the thread, start to finish: ultimate lemons to lemonade story. Glad to see that you're heaping on the miles. Best regards, John/CT

Thanks guys. Great satisfaction knowing that I did most of it with my own hands. In love again every time I look at the RST in the garage. Big grin every time I drive it.
Cheers, Johan

Thanks Shaun. As you may recall, the RST does have a number of bits and pieces that came from your stash of parts.
In late August, we were fortunate to visit Stuttgart and picked up this neat window decal at the museum. Just noticed the wording on the bottom line....... ![]() Cheers, Johan

Under Dash Cover
Over the years, at least a few of us have complained about those unsightly wires hanging down under the dash, particularly on the driver’s side by the ignition. The spaghetti often dangles even more after electrical repairs over the years where wires have been stretched or dislodged from their original position. In my case, the RST is probably also over wired, over fused, and over relayed.......and, to a great extent, that extra electrical stuff has ended up in full view under the dash. So here is my solution .

Beautiful build. Question about the ducktail from GT Racing, how was the quality and fit? Looking for one for my car, I have seen a couple that were quite underwhelming.

Gordon and Bruce, many thanks for you kind words.
Bruce, the GT Racing duck tail did fit really well right from the outset when compared to a real Factory RS. Only usual top side preparation. Looking back, I should have spent more time smoothing out the edges on the interior reinforcement sandwich frame. Johan

Great job! Must have been really satisfying to start with nothing but basic materials and an idea, and end up with such a fantastic and tidy end result!

That wire cover isn't bad. I'm surprised there isn't a product just like it.

Griffiths A/C upgrade
My OEM A/C thermostatic switch, i.e. temperature control, bit the dust and since I already had a small but nagging refrigerant leak, I decided to further upgrade the A/C system.
You may recall from some early postings to this thread that my 964/993 condenser is now located inside the left front fender. This setup has worked well for me on two cars for many years. But, always seeking to improve comfort and noting new well reviewed products on the market, I took the plunge and upgraded, yet again..... - new 964/993 condenser ( old one leaking) - Griffiths/Kuehl evaporator - Griffiths/Kuehl thermostatic switch - Griffiths/Kuehl variable evaporator speed controller - Retained the front underneath condenser (without the useless fan) - Replaced the Pro-cooler with a more traditional Kuehl receiver/dryer from Griffiths I was surprised that my new condenser bought thru our host is slightly thicker than the old one. ![]() The new Griffiths/Kuehl evaporator is really well made. ![]() ![]() ![]() The variable evaporator fan speed controller is the best as now I can find a comfortable setting for all conditions. Conclusion? A/C works much better than my previous modified iteration which was already a great improvement over stock. It’s been friggin hot here in eastern Canada so this little mod has been welcome. Cheers, Johan

Griffiths A/C upgrade Update
My new and improved A/c system works really well, I’m happy to report. Over 1,000 km with it in reasonably hot weather. Had to turn down the system repeatedly after initial cabin cool downs.
Cheers, Johan

Lukas, many thanks for your appreciative words. Glad you enjoyed this thread. It’s my go-to daily driver-just just completed a ~800 km overnight trip through back roads avoiding almost all highways. Reasonably fast open air driving the leg out followed by a hot muggy drive home where the upgraded A/C came in very handy.
Cheers, Johan
