Euromeisters are on. Understeer/tire pressure?

My Euromeisters are on. Love the look!! I do note a noticeable increase in understeer. I'm wondering if I can lessen this a bit with air pressure adjustment in the tires. I'm currently running 245/40/17 rear and 225/45/17 front. I am using ~36 psi rear, ~29 psi front.

What is everyone running for tire pressure with their 17" Euromeisters? Did you notice more understeer, or is this issue unique to my car?

The 911 is inherently an understeering car. The factory recommended Carrera pressures of 29/36 ensure that. I run 32 front, 33 rear for street and that helps. It also makes turn-in just a tad crisper.

Understood. But it seems to be more or exaggerated with the Euromeisters. I just want to tame the understeer some.

Are you running 32/33 with Euromeisters?

I would try 32 front and rear, its worked dialing out understeer for me in the past running even pressures all around

Under what circumstances do you notice the understeer?

Unless you change offsets by a lot, wheels alone aren't going to change handling balance. Perhaps your old rear tires were worn to the point they had no grip left to give? Amy other changes besides wheel / tire?

Yes, Euromeisters, but 16's not 17's.

Sounds like its time to lower, corner balance, and get some targa bars.

Trust me, that set-up won't disappoint

You'll have to experiment with tire pressures. The 29/36 recommendation on the car is based on 16 in. wheels/tires. When you install 17 in. with their shorter sidewalls, the pressure requirements can change.

An example of this is the 964 or 993 that came from factory with optional 17 in. wheels. The tire pressures are 36 all around for those cars. For comparison, their recommended 16 in. pressures are 36/44

I think it's best to monitor your tires and adjust pressures by feel and what you see on the tire tread. Just because the manual says 29/36, doesn't mean you must stick to that religiously. It's just a starting point. Not an obey-these-numbers-or-die rendezvous with fate?

I agree. I used them as a base and was unhappy with them. Which is why I'm tapping into the brain trust for opinions.

Guess it may be time to bust out the chalk...

I just put mine on. Like the OP love the look! I actually perceive less understeer. I also had an alignment done at the same time which improved overall handling significantly.

Off topic: Having a heck of a time getting them balanced and tires (RE760) seated properly. Anyone else with same issues on Euromeisters?

I have Euro's 17x9's on the back only with 255/40/17 Yokohama's S-Drives and have had no issues at all.

When does it understeer? You may have changed the handling characteristics enough that you also can adjust your driving points ie turn in, throttle point, etc

Hmm, I do feel the steering is definitely lighter than my heavy C2s. I still need to add my bump steer kit since I lowered her.

___________

Kuba, did they align the tire to the stem when they mount edit or was it a used tire? have them rotate the tire and try again.
