need help with fuel injection on 83

I replaced the fuel lines on my 83 SC. The lines from the tunnel thru the fuel accumulator, filter to the fuel distributor.

I cannot get the car to start. I pulled an injector and I am not getting any fuel out of it.

I know I am getting fuel to the fuel distributor due to leaky connections that have since been tightened.

I remember reading somewhere in a post about bleeding the air out the system I do not know if that pertains to my CIS system or not.

any help would be greatly appreciated

how did you check that the injectors are not putting out any fuel?

you bleed by removing air filter and with key on very briefly lifting the little arm. don't do it too long or often or you can flood the cylinders.

you can also try spraying some starter fluid (don't try this w/o a pop off valve on the air box) and see if the engine will stay running.

yep with the ignition on, lift the air plate with one or all the injectors out in the little bottles. should purge quickly, don't flood the engine

Thom,

Do you have a fuel injection pressure gauge kit? It is a mandatory tool for fuel injection troubleshooting regardless if you have Ketronic, Motronic, etc. without one, it would be an uphill battle to find the culprit/s. If I were in your shoes, these are what I would do:
1). Check the fuel pressures by running the FP. No need to start the engine at this point. Know what your control and system pressures are.
2). Check for air/vacuum leaks.
3). Check ignition sparks.
4). Have a fully charged battery.
5). Check that the 7 injectors are spraying mist-like patterns. Yes, there are 7 injectors in your CIS engine.

If the engine was running before, it should be an easy start-up. Keep us posted.

Tony

it just cranks without starting

if I hold the gas to the floor it will sputter but not catch

Pretty frustrating

no ecu on a 83, so good spark and fuel, cranking it sputters with the throttle wide open. If all the air leaks are accounted for, i would keep cranking without flooring it. it should catch soon. Put a battey charger on it

Car was flooded. It only cost me 95 dollar to learn how to clear a flooded cis car

75 towing fee

20 shop fee at eisenbuds in denver

Basically hold down the sensor plate and have someone crank the car over till it starts

I have paid allot more for training and got a lot less.

I feel I got off cheap can't say enough about John at eisenbuds took my car directly off the flatbed and got it running in 10 mins you just do not get that kind of service

there was a hidden ground wire on a nut that i could not see but had to remove. had it towed to volvo. took him a while to find it.
