I'm new to this site so if this is the wrong forum please forgive me.
My plan. I'm seeking advice on the shortest road to take on recreating the PS Automobile 911ST shown in photos below. Does it make any sense to start with a 964 coupe and backdate or to "Hotrod" a 69-73 911? As they begin with a 964 coupe and a 3.2 motor it seems like the right platform to start with. However, the Hood latch support, bumpers and polished window trim can get costly. I intend to keep car so build practicality comes FIRST and cost is SECOND barely... I live on North shore of Massachusetts. Any advice on build would be greatly appreciated. I spoke to Guys @ EPE in Natick they recommended Hotrod a 69-73 car. Program is to ask questions first then proceed with "The Plan". What I think I want- please feel free to burst my bubble. 1. Motor output near 275-300hp (emphasis on Torque as hi-speed is 2% of driving) 2. Slate Gray Paint & Black Interior w/ hounds-tooth seats 3. A/C modern performance & efficient 4. Yes, it makes a lot of sense - it will never be as light as an early car, but can be as pretty, and will have a stiffer unit body.
The suspension will perform better and the engine will make more power. Of course, you may want a vintage handling feel and a lighter car. I'd avoid the flares but that is me. Wider tires = more stick, but = less steering feel. Different horses for different sensory experiences, even on the same course... there was a guy in nashville (PorscheDoc?) who did this and has a thread on it |

Interesting project, similar in intent to my project (the 6 Speed into Carrera thread...Fitting 6 speed G50 to '89 Carrera).
I am using an '89 Carrera carcass as the base, moved the AC condenser (993 into the front fender), fitted a 6 Speed which in turn will be mated to a brand new 3.4 litre with PMO throttle bodies, SSI's and a bunch of other stuff. Again the idea is decent torque and cruising as opposed to maximum horsepower. I too am cost sensitive, I do all my own work and have made decent progress so far including things like removing the sunroof and drip rails, done the early front end (with later valence for the fog lights). Happy to share experiences and ideas....definitely not for the faint of heart.... Dennis |

Curve Ball 964
Wonderful advice from you guys and as life throws you a curve here's where I stand...
I found a car '92 only 40k Miles! C2 Black/ Black 5spd, Sport seats, Ltd Slip Diff, Rear wiper. Cup wheels. I feel like I couldn't pass on such a nice car. Now I don't want to transform such an original & stock car. It's a difficult thing to give up on a dream. I'm just going to keep looking for an higher mile 964 to put under the knife for the ST transformation. I can't get that image of the PS Automobile 964 out of my mind. Its an embarrassment of riches so I can't complain over delaying the pursuit of this. If anyone has done steel ST rear flares, where do you source them? Thanks for the input and any advice. ![]()
