SSI Install - no bolts in block to secure SSI flange

Hi guys
got around to installing SSI's on 3.0 and I have no bolts in engine block to secure them, how deep can I drill and tap a thread to secure them in these mount points, using 6mm bolts?

cheers

thanks James, You mean the 1/2 hour at the hardware buying some nice looking 6mm bolts and a thread tap is wasted!!
what if i just wanted to anyway, I was thinking 12-15mm?
cheers

I followed James recommendation when I fitted mine, no problems.

SSI installation........

I've installed a few of them on SC's and found no need to use the brackets for the engine block. Since no one could prevent you from drilling and tapping the unnecessary hole/s, it is a personal choice. The 12 exhaust nuts are more than sufficient to keep the SSI in place and years of DE proved it.

I drilled and tapped my 3.2 when I put the SSI's on - it wasn't just a question of support, I didn't want the flanges rattling against the block. I put very short bolts on, maybe 10 or 12mm total length. I kinda think one side was already drilled and tapped, and I just had to do the other side, but now I can't recall for sure.
