Steering Column Play - Missing Bushing?

There is distinct "play" in the steering column of my 79 SC. I'm not talking about rotary play in the steering wheel, but in the column itself. I can move it slightly in 360 degrees.

This is not normal.

Is there perhaps an internal support or bushing that may need tightening or replacing?
