[QUOTE=wwest;7578752]The OBJECT of a MAC A/C is to cool the cabin down as quickly as possible but not to excessive passenger discomfort...widely dispersed COLD and massive airflow volume. Once that is achieved low and slow is the name of the game.[QUOTE]
Says who? How do you determine what is "excessive passenger discomfort"? |

Time to close this thread... WWEST is incoherent again...

And it's not a matter of not liking it COLD, it's a matter of discomfort due to cool and dry airflow being directed to a persons face and upper body hour upon hour. Take a look at how the 996/997 system redirects airflow once the cabin nears or reaches the temperature setpoint. |

No car I have ever been in was too cold. No car has ever provided discomfort. Sorry wwest. Why don't you run along to the early bird special.

You are missing the point wwest. Ac systems should be built to be great for the most demanding. Everyone else can turn it down. Designing a system so the old ladies (you) are happy will not work for 90% of the population. You are welcome to bring a sweater or shaw.

Oh, So Willy wants the perfect system for a 911/930 that can satisfy anyone, anywhere.
Well, lets see if we can keep that thought in line with the context of the OP. Easy: 1) An R134a system since it is the more easy to find refrigerant that can be serviced just about anywhere. You could use R12, rather expensive though. Other alternatives can give you problems if you need to have the system serviced. So, R134a is the way to go. 2) Kuehl Barrier hoses to reduce refrigerant permeation leaks; if you have an o-ring system then new o-rings. 3) Kuehl binary low high pressure switch to protect the system. 4) Kuehl drier, to start things off fresh 5) If you have an SC, discard the York, use a Kuehl 507. If you have a Carrera then inspect the pistons, bores, wobble plate and bearings, shaft. If all looks well then a seal kit. If things don't look good or are questionable, use a new Denso 10P15C. Use ester oil. 6) Evaporator upgrade with the Kuehl unit since it out performs OEM and all competitors. The Kuehl unit is more reliable as well and comes with all the bells and whistles you need to do a proper R&R. 7) Since the SC and Carreras are short on condenser capacity, depending upon your climate and driving needs, you might start off with adding the Kuehl rearward (behind the left hand rear tire) fender condenser. Again, depending upon vehicle needs and climate possibly add the Duehl Kuehl in line with is cousin, or simply the Kuehl serpentine front condenser. Which combination of them all is a factor of car color, type (coupe, cab, targa), number of occupants and climate. 8) Since the SC's lack enough ac air volume, add the Kuehl Center Vent or possibly the Tri-Kuehl Vent system. With Carreras simply adding the Kuehl Center unit is enjoyable (beats having wasted ac air dump on the floor or hit the back of the console). 9) Fine tuning ac can be achieved with the Kuehl Variable Speed Fan controller, any speed you want, combined with your desired thermostat setting you will enjoy the ride. And the Kuehl Indicator Light let's you know the system is on and when the comp clutch should be engaging (aka thermostat has a demand). 10) Put it all together and you have a reliable winning system to enjoy the most driving days per year. Kuehl systems come with the most detailed installation instructions found anywhere as well as above normal tech support and sound warranty. Bait, line and sinker, lol. Nonsense, on a stick. 78 degrees is too warm for me in a car. I like it COOL in there - 70 degrees, or even a little less. My wife likes it at 70. But not much lower. We often compromise at 70. When our house gets to be 78 degrees inside, we start turning on the AC to cool it down. My max in the house is 74 degrees. His idiotic idea that EVERYONE wants 78 degrees is so dumb as to be forehead-slapping in the world of dumb. |
