There Must be an Easier Way to Install a Window Motor??

I looked through the 4 pages of Search for WIndow Motors Install and did not see "1" that had any ideas to make it easier!

I have removed everything that is in the way, Taped the WIndow in the "UP" Position and removed the 4 Allen Screws that hold everything to close to even "Attempt" to get at those 3 - 10 MM Head Screws and got the Old Motor Out.

To reinstall I have the Forward Bolt in but soon realized that it locks everything into Position so you cannot pull the Framing Down, Forward or Backward. My thought is to move the Arms on the WIndow Glass to a Position where I can get them out and slide Everything down so I can reach all 3 Bolts without being Hudini! I Basically did this on the Drivers Side and was Hoping that I could avoid the Additional Work!

ANy Suggestions?

i converted to Manual and getting all the stuff out of there was a bear! I removed the trim, the glass, then the regulator (the contraption the glass fits into?) before removing the motor. If you find and easy way to do this swap out..please post some pics!

AMEN!! One of mu thought is to enlarge the 1 hole where you can see the Front Bolt and then Drill 2 more 1/2" holes so I can simply use 1/4" drive tools and do this Quickly NOW and Later if Needed!

Matter of Fact, I just thought of this and If I do not get any reasons why not, This is Exactly what I am going to do! (Use Grease on the Drill Bit and a Magnet to colect most of the Shavings!)

May not sound like it but I still think the easiest way is to pull the entire window frame, remove the glass and channel from the regulator and then pull the regulator assembly out with the motor attached and change it on the bench.
While you're in there, service the door latch, handle and stop.

Exactly what I had to do for the Drivers Side BUT Only through my own Ignorance and Bad Memory! (I forgot that you cannot lock the Drivers Door without it being closed and thinking something was Wrong I took everything apart then saw that Nothing was wrong)

You do not think that drilling 2 - 1/2 inch Holes and enlarging 1 hole by 1/4" is not easier?

Once you get into it, it's not really that time consuming. The added bonus of being able to service 30yo critical parts makes it worth it in my opinion.

Read all the posts about sticky door latches, broken triggers on door handles, loose door stops etc. etc. and a little service time goes a long way.

Make sure that the small post that is staked to the regulator at the end of the tension spring is in place before assembly. If that post has fallen out (most do) it places an undue load on the motor when raising the window. If it fell out it will be laying at bottom inside of your door.

I have figured it out! Remove the door and replace with another door with a working motor. Yes, I know...not helpful, but true...

I had to replace the pass side motor last year. I drilled the holes. It worked.

window about 1/2 way down, then you can slide the assembly back and forth and by moving the window manually up and down a bit, you can get at all 3 bolts. not my favorite job, but not too bad. cut a thin wedge of wood to jamb the glass in position from the top. saves needing a 3rd hand.

AMEN!! I just did this and I am Too Happy. Made a Template and drilled the holes. Ended up about 3/4" but I am Tickled.

I am glad to say no spring in my doors. I replaced both of the Lift assemblies last year. They had rusted out.

Great to hear from you! As Usual, the Master of the "Understatement"! The first chance I get I am going to drill and modify the Drivers Door so that If I am Ever on the road and need to deal with this it is almost as easy as replacing Wiper Blades. I will paint the Holes tonight and when dry put it all back together.

I know that for the People you deal with this would be Sacrilege to cut a hole in a Porsche Door that Porsche did not first cut themselves (Specially considering that they already have Holes everywhere!)

Correct. I did my car's passenger motor recently, and did it this way. It also allowed me to replace the internal wiper seal on the door, and easily install a new window channel guide in the frame.

Fine! But if just last year you Already had replaced "EVERYTHING" (because it all had rusted out) Why would you Still want to do it that way again? Plus, with the Motor out, it is so easy to slide the window up and down.

Last night I repainted around the new Holes to avoid new rust
