There Must be an Easier Way to Install a Window Motor??
I looked through the 4 pages of Search for WIndow Motors Install and did not see "1" that had any ideas to make it easier!
I have removed everything that is in the way, Taped the WIndow in the "UP" Position and removed the 4 Allen Screws that hold everything to close to even "Attempt" to get at those 3 - 10 MM Head Screws and got the Old Motor Out. To reinstall I have the Forward Bolt in but soon realized that it locks everything into Position so you cannot pull the Framing Down, Forward or Backward. My thought is to move the Arms on the WIndow Glass to a Position where I can get them out and slide Everything down so I can reach all 3 Bolts without being Hudini! I Basically did this on the Drivers Side and was Hoping that I could avoid the Additional Work! ANy Suggestions?

i converted to Manual and getting all the stuff out of there was a bear! I removed the trim, the glass, then the regulator (the contraption the glass fits into?) before removing the motor. If you find and easy way to do this swap out..please post some pics!

Matter of Fact, I just thought of this and If I do not get any reasons why not, This is Exactly what I am going to do! (Use Grease on the Drill Bit and a Magnet to colect most of the Shavings!)

May not sound like it but I still think the easiest way is to pull the entire window frame, remove the glass and channel from the regulator and then pull the regulator assembly out with the motor attached and change it on the bench.
While you're in there, service the door latch, handle and stop. |

You do not think that drilling 2 - 1/2 inch Holes and enlarging 1 hole by 1/4" is not easier?

Read all the posts about sticky door latches, broken triggers on door handles, loose door stops etc. etc. and a little service time goes a long way. |

Make sure that the small post that is staked to the regulator at the end of the tension spring is in place before assembly. If that post has fallen out (most do) it places an undue load on the motor when raising the window. If it fell out it will be laying at bottom inside of your door.

I have figured it out! Remove the door and replace with another door with a working motor. Yes, I know...not helpful, but true...

I had to replace the pass side motor last year. I drilled the holes. It worked.

window about 1/2 way down, then you can slide the assembly back and forth and by moving the window manually up and down a bit, you can get at all 3 bolts. not my favorite job, but not too bad. cut a thin wedge of wood to jamb the glass in position from the top. saves needing a 3rd hand.

I am glad to say no spring in my doors. I replaced both of the Lift assemblies last year. They had rusted out. |

I know that for the People you deal with this would be Sacrilege to cut a hole in a Porsche Door that Porsche did not first cut themselves ![]() ![]()
