I was going to wash my car...
I was going to wash my car...really clean it out well and get it shiny.
Then, I noticed the carpet screws were rusty so I thought I would pull them out and maybe clean them up or paint them... But, then, I noticed the carpet was dry rotted, so I started pulling some of it out just to see how hard it would be to replace it... Which meant I had to remove the front seats to get the rest of it out, which required a solid day of drilling out crappy seats bolts... And of course, I had to remove the rear seats which required a trip to the store to buy an impact driver... And then, once the rear seats were out, I noticed the soundproofing material was all powdery and dry, so I figured I would replace it with Dynamat so the kids don't breathe that powdery stuff in... So I pulled out the soundproofing and realized I had the holes for shoulder harnesses already under it, so I ordered some after market shoulder harnesses for the kids sake... Then, I realized my footboards were just broken up plywood, so I ordered some aluminum ones... And while I've got the seats out, I figured I may as well install that 'under the seat' subwoofer I was thinking about... But that wouldn't make sense unless I replaced the old speakers in the front and back... And I better order some Guards Red paint to touch up all the stuff I scratched up... So, I went to wash my car... now my interior is stripped out and I've got about $1500 worth of stuff on the way to my house. How did that even happen? ![]()

That's the slipperiest slope I've heard to date.

Oh, man. we have all been there. If not, we'd never be reading the technical section to help bail us out of our challenges.

The slope is not slippery, in fact it is entirely frictionless.

Shipwright's disease
Goes something like this: Sailor owns boat. Boat has burned out light in galley. Sailor decides to change bulb. Sailor notices socket is corroded, decides to change socket. Sailor notices wiring frayed while trying to change socket. Sailor decides to change wiring. Sailor notices galley ceiling slats are rotted while changing the wire. Sailor decides galley ceiling slats need changing. Sailor notices ... this goes on and on and on and on and pretty soon, Sailor is undertaking a major renovation of his boat because of a burned out lightbulb. [wz] Might as well paint the floor pan while you are at it... |

I bought a small house for $40K once. Needed some repair to walls and deck. Opened up a wall to repair it. Found no insulation. Decided to insulate while in there and change panels for drywall. $150K later it had new wiring, alarm system, new plumbing, new HVAC, new roof, new foundation, finished basement, new flooring, new windows, new doors, rebuilt porch, 2 new decks, new kitchen, bathrooms etc.

You are now in the free fall zone. It will be over when you land on your wallet and find it has no cushioning left in it...

Shipwright's disease.
Your story is nothing. I had my car in to fix oil leaks, and it is now getting an engine and transmission rebuild. ![]() |
