Question Engine code

Does anyone know what engine is this? I have this engine number (7 Digit number) 64053**. And on heads I also have this number 901.105.111.0R

You sure its 640? the 6 is 6 cylinder and the 4 indicates a US 911 S between 74 and 78

The 0 as third digit would suggest a 1970 car but then the second digit should be a 1,2 or 3 to represent a T,E or S

That depends, what is the engine type #?
930/07 would be a 3.0 L SC
901/38 would be a 2.0 L 914/6
I guess it is the latter one based on the head part #.

Someone can correct me, but the location of the engine # and the number sequence seems to indicate it is a 914/6 engine. 911 engines have the engine serial number stamped along the vertical support for the fan. The 914, being a mid-engine car, had the number stamped where it would be visible from the top rather than the rear.

Looks to be a 1970 2.0 USA version 914 engine.
