A/C Hose Fittings: Who makes them?
I recently purchased some more products from Griffiths to modify my A/C system. I replaced my front condenser with a front-of-rear-fender condenser. The reason for this was that the front condenser was getting too hot due to the front oil-cooler and ducting I have...
So, I still have 3 condensers: Decklid, rear-of-rear-fender, and front-of-rear-fender. From there, I go to the drier then the evaporator. All items are Griffiths from the condensers to the evaporator to the evaporator motor. Here is a picture of the drier connection: ![]() Unfortunately, I was provided the wrong fittings for the hose running to the drier. Because Griffiths is closed until the 20th, is there any way to get a different fitting put on the A/C hose? Here's what I have: ![]() But, I need something to fit on this [I believe it's a flare or compression fitting] same picture as above: ![]() Any help on where I could go to get this hose made, or should I just wait until 8/20? Thanks, Shannon

As you probably already know, Griffiths sells the adapter fittings. Given how close you are to the 20th, waiting my be your best bet. However, here is an adapter that may work if it is the correct diameter. The good news is the FLAPS, Advance Auto stocks it.
Good luck! Buy Factory Air O-ring to Flare A/C Fitting Adapter 18557 at Advance Auto Parts

I guess an adapter could be the ticket. Would like to limit the "joints" however...

If that flare fitting adapter is made right, that would be a stout, airtight connection to the drier (not really a joint, per say).

The drier in the first pic is an o-ring drier, however there is a flare adapter in the port.
If you take out the flare adapter, you have an o-ring connection rather than a flare. If your issue has not already been resolved, give us a shout monday. |

Charlie,
You are correct. I went ahead and purchased a new Kuehl Drier [from the host] along with enough o-rings to finish the job. Got everything charged up on Thursday, and the car has NEVER been Kuehl-er! With the new 3rd condenser in the Front of Rear Fender, the A/C is super efficient at highway speeds. I did not install a fan on this condenser. I do have electric fans on the Decklid and Rear-of-Rear condenser. I'm seeing a steady less than 40-F from the vents in 90-F southern humidity. Creeps up to 45-F at idle. The faster I go down the highway, the lower the temps. I was able to get 35-F on Medium Fan Speed @ 75-MPH cruise. Pressures are a tinge "low" from the supplied chart [given the O/S temp], but, I'm very happy with the results. My car is now drive-able in southern heat and humidity. Didn't break a sweat in 2-hours of cruising around town!! - Shannon

Shannon,
Glad to hear everything worked out satisfactory to your needs. We just got back earlier this past week. I removed my deck lid condenser from my 87 black top cabriolet, just running the 2 Kuehl condensers in the LH rear, the front Kuehl and Kuehl evaporator. Have not finalized the R134a charge, we are playing around with this, however 87-90F outside, strong sun, 52% humidity, low 70s in the cockpit measured at the driver's head; very comfortable. We'll keep you posted. So, as far as your refrigerant charge goes, keep it where it is, lower high sides are better long term. Griff |
