When did Porsche start using option sticker under hood?
Does any one know what year/model Porsche started using the option and vin# sticker under the hood?
Thanks.

Hood sticker.
It's on our '86.

It's not on my '80. We have a window now.

I believe that it was in 1983, year code D.
I have a small collection of photos of them that I use for research; any contributions are welcome.

It started in the spring of 1983. There's a Porsche service bulletin that gives the date, if you need it.

My '84 (3/84 build) does not have it, but I always assumed that it had been removed at some past point. I wish I had a copy, but having the window sticker will have to do.

JR, if you post that bulletin it would be very useful for me. Thanks.

Just curious as aside from the option sticker under the hood, do you also have the same option sticker on your warranty and maintenance book? I recall going thru the manuals and warranty/maintenance log book (the red one) and found the same sticker stamped on the first page.

Thanks for the Technical Bulletin. Yes, the labels came in pairs, one for the car, and one for the book.

Also, any gauge on how accurate they are? I have an '86 Cab white with white wheels, painted crests and the only option code is C02 which I think means it has a catalytic converter (doesn't really seem like an option to me). I would have thought the white wheels would have been and option. I'll dig up an option list for '86, but it does seem a little strange. I did run down the numbers for the hood and it is original to the car so I'm assuming the sticker is too.
Just curious... Thanks, Franny Edit: I did find this: http://www.kindel.com/porsche/options/options.asp Which has been posted before... Enter an "*" to get the complete list. There are a ton! My car had the wheel locks and a factory alarm and neither were on the option list. Just seems a little strange. I'm pretty sure the alarm is original - it does have a correct color bezel. f

All I have on my '85 coupe is the 'CO2' code as well. My car has factory 15" fuchs, and full leather...I thought those were options in for MY1985? I suppose the wheels could have been dealer installed.
I always wondered why I didn't see any codes on that sticker....good thread; I'll look into the 'type' designation. |

Full leather WAS an option but that info is in the interior code.
