Question Question for Bill V and other RUF bumper users

I just picked up my FG hood from MA Shaw and got to talking to Mike about F/G front and rear bumpers. Until now it was a toss up between the narrow body RSR/IROC or the RUF Yellow Bird. After looking at his bumpers I decided to go with the YB kit.

Question: Where did you get the screens for the front oil cooler opening and fog lights? Also, where did you get the lower rubber lip that mounts to the rear of the front bumper cover?

Much thanks.

Geez, I don't wanna speak for Bill here, but I've seen his bumper install and it's very nice. For the front openings he used an extra stock black plastic engine grille from the decklid, then cut it to size. I'm pretty sure the spoiler lip was a gen-u-ine Ruf piece. Bill?

Sorry for the delayed response I've been floating around off the East Coast for the last couple of days.

The center grill was supplied by BW with the bumpers, I made the foglight grills. All were made from spare engine grills.

The chin spoiler is a Ruf part for their f/g bumper cap. Don't confuse the Ruf bumper cap which was f/g with the Ruf valance which was poly-urethane and only replaces the oem valance under the bumpers, not the whole front cap as I am using. The valance has an integral piece molded in, the bumper cap uses the separate rubber lip. I got it from a neighbor of my parents in Fla. who was a Ruf importer. Weisach or Staphania are the current importers afaik.

Todd, How'd the wheels and ssi's workout for you?

Thanks for the info. I am using the F/G bumper cap, not the lower valance. I will start looking for the RUF lower spoiler lip and call BB for the front oil cooler opening grill.

AES and Kemo: If you picture the fog light opening cut out on the top and sides and then the flap folded backwards, you have a "flap" or platform to mount the fog lights. You could use the OEM fog light by just drilling a hole in the flap and mounting. I plan feeding my brake cooling ducts with the openings, however.

As Paul described there is a shelf which the stock '84-89 fogs will bolt to(earlier ones won't work). In addition I made an adjuster consising of a threaded rod and jam nut to aim the fogs more precisely. Alas it was all for nought as I needed cooling ducts more than fogs. Lastly a pre '84 will need to swap out the water bottle. The '84-89 version has an indent for the back of the light.
