Q about clutch
Ok, as everything always is stuck on my car I wonder if there should be a clearance between item 12 and 13 on the picture. It seems to me that they have got stuck together. I could easy clear it with the Dremel but better safe than sorry...
I am about to remove the clutch in order for a enginge drop. ![]() ![]() |

Brandett,
From your picture it looks fine, but you do not need to remove those parts in order to drop your engine and have it come away from your transmission. The part that needs to be removed in order to allow the engine and trans to seperate is part #17 - part #16 does NOT have to come off. Hope that this helps! -Dave |

Interesting, could any one 2:nd that remark on that #16 doesn't need to removed. To my "knowledge" it has, but my knowledge is not worth much when it comes to this.

The helper spring (#13) stays with with the clutch lever when you remove the it. It does need to be separated from the pin on the transmission (#12) just like you thought. It should slide off.

But part #16 does not have any splines on it as part #17 does (there is a good picture of this, picture 20, in Engine Drop Tech article here on PP). By removing part #17, that will allow you to turn the shaft and have the fork come off of the throw-out bearing as you are pulling the engine away from the trans.
Part #16 moves part #17 which engages/disengages the clutch. Therefore, unless you want to change the helper spring (part #13), there is really no reason to remove it and part #16 in order to seperate the engine from the transmission. This how I just did mine and it all worked fine. Hope this helps! -Dave |

THe helper spring does not have to come off, but it only takes a little bit of time to remove and install and it gives a bit more clearance so ... either way is fine.

Thanks all for the input, as always something is stuck ....
![]() It should be easy to slide #16 of as I have removed #17 but no such luck. I think its stuck with rust to #5 so I will use my well proven metod: heat, PB blaster and time.... Fortunately I like this kind of problems. Well the transmission bolts was not stuck, but on the other side i have soaked them with PB Blaster for months now !!! I can se that #13 and #12 is not stuck as i first believed as it flexes a bit when i try to remove #16. Good to know that separation of tranny/engine is possible if I dont succed. |

Before you try all those things, make sure that you remove the pin that is holding part #16 onto the shaft (it is shown on your illustration but does not have a part #).
