911SC winter storage A/C concern
Have working A/C and need to put car in storage for 5 months ; understand the A/C should be run at least once a month , however this is not possible .Does anyone have experience for this issue , did your unit still function ok in the spring without it operating during layup ? Thanks

No problems here....mine gets some fuel stabilizer and pulled into the garage for the winter. I turn the battery charger on a few times per winter. Spring time you fire her up and drive her out! Ten years so far without an issue (not even a battery issue). I have not noticed any changes in the A/C at all.

No doubt it is BEST to run the AC on occasion but I don't think it is vital just to keep the AC working.
The bigger worry will be rodents or other varmints making a nest in the car. Put some mouse traps around and check them regularly.

Do you keep the red heater levers in the closed or open/heat position?

The critters can and will do lots of damage if given the chance.
That should be your biggest concern.

The AC system is "sealed" with elastomers (synthetic and compounded rubber). If there was a leak to begin with it will just continue.
Hence, no benefit to running it weekly, monthly or yearly. As far as the other "stuff".... Gas Stabilizer in fuel tank helps Moth balls in socks, placed near then engine cooling fan/alternator (Do NOT forget to remove it before you start the car), and placed in the front trunk and smugglers box keeps some critters away, however you will be smelling like a fur coat in storage when you get in the car. Disconnect the negative lead on the battery; if you have a "cold" garage then move the battery inside (someplace safe). |

Recommendation re A/C
Right before you put the car into storage Run the a/c for 15 minutes or so on a drive and then turn off the a/c but run the fan on a higher setting to circulate fresh air through the vents blowing out the moisture that can accumulate. This helps avoid the "musty" smell you can get. If time permits on the drive run the fan only with a/c off for 1/2-1 hr if possible. Change the air direction settings so it blows through the top front and bottom vents.
