Y.A.L.T. Yet another lights [working crazy] thread

I promise I've searched and read signal threads, dug around my car, and studied the diagram in the Haynes all day till I'm in need of several Rum & Cokes..... I have a 1975 US S, seems like some of it relates to the earlier wiring diagram, some to an older one?

-My flashers do blink (Only when the engine is running and lights are off) both the dimmer of the brake light and the larger light beside it (rear) and both of the lights in the front. This works for either side. Question 1: Should 4 lights blink at this time, does this mean the flasher relay is working?

-When I put on my parking lights all 8 lights come on, the blinkers will not blink at all now.

-If I put a signal on w/ the ignition off it will solidly light all 4 lights of one side of the car.

-My hazard switch doesn't do Jack, but it will light up (solid) if it's popped out and the lights are on.

-My Brake lights come on or light brighter as long as the engine is running.

Please help me figure out just how my car is supposed to be acting

Thank you, Travis

Travis,
Send me an email through Pelican with your email address and I'll take a picture or 2 of the factory wiring diagrams for a '75 for you and email them to you.
Definitely not working correctly.

You have a bad ground. Remove all the lenses and walk around the car pulling one bulb at a time until it acts correctly. Investigate the ground wire from the back of the bulb socket to where it connects to the chassis for the suspect bulb. Dual filament bulbs will allow current flow through both filaments if the ground between the filaments is open.

Pardon the ignorance but what is "correct"? Should only the outside rear and outside fronts light up when blinking?

Diving back in this morning, I will take off all of the lenses and start pulling bulbs.

My turn signals are the only ones that blink. the running lights do not.
Thanks for posting this I looked and noticed I have a rear turn signal not flashing and needing a new lamp.

So the bulb removal suggestion produced some great results tonight. It would seem I had single filament bulbs in the front signal lights instead of duals. One of them needed to be taken apart and the spring re-fitted as the bulb was wobbling around in there.

After I changed those 2 out she now blinks only from the signals and blinks when the lights are on.

I still don't get any sort of action out of the hazard switch, car on, off, lights on or off. Is there a test for it or just a safe bet it's toast?
