Any thoughts on if this can be repaired

Its not pretty and the PO did try to have it welded. Not the end of the world but not really thrilled.

To do it right, the panel needs to be cut out and a replacement welded in.

OR get another door. When it's opened up by a pro, you'll know more.

Not a patch type job.

The car has a fresh paint job so I would love to avoid a new door. Ill have to rip it apart this weekend and see whats going on .

Not that big of a deal to fix.. I've seen worse.

Disassemble the door panel.. Mark you pwr window wires if you have them.

Pop the pin out of the door stay, the pop-out both the hinge pins punch and dead blow hammer. By doing this, you don't loose your door alignment. Take the door to a good welder for the fix.

feel your pain, fresh paint on my car year before last, the same thing happened to me last week. Mulling over whether to get a new door or try to repair.

I certified welder would laugh at that " take the door off mask the heck
Out of it and bring it to a real welder , little bit of touch up paint and
All good again. I wouldn't even contemplate a door change with that.

Just measure the door gaps make some paint stick jigs for the re hang
That's a good weekend project. Good it's a nice clean break and not a Nasty
Ripping separation .

I discovered the same thing on my replacement door just after I had it painted. Argh!

The metal around that spot was too brittle to weld and had to go inside the door to do the repair. It turned out fine but would have been better if the seller had told me that is why he removed the door from his car so that I could fix it before the paint job.

I never knew that these cars were prone to that and never thought to check.

a new picture with better lighting or a flash would be good. really can't see the problem very well. there's a repair kit from pelican that requires no welding, but yours looks like an outside tear, which is unusual. hard to see though.

On Wheeler Dealers Ed would get the door off - cut a patch piece of metal and tack weld that baby in - a little rattle can primer and some close to match Porsche green - fixed for a $1.99

I would FIRST go to Ace hardware or wally world and buy a roll of white contact paper and cover the whole door twice, after applying a coat of wax to it and a couple of insurance layers on the edges. Then take it off and bring it to a CERTIFIED welder. The door will thank you and he will thank you.
